General information
The Directgov website has an area for young people. It
gives information on health and relationships, money, crime and
justice, work and careers, learning, travel and more.
All U Need 2 Know is a health and wellbeing information
service based in West Berkshire. You can find information
on everything from learning, work and money to housing, health
and leisure. If you'd like to talk to someone the service
is also available on the CLIVe bus. Visit the website for a
timetable of where the bus is scheduled to visit next.
What About Money? gives impartial financial information for
young adults. There's information about borrowing money, coping
when you're a student and some budgeting tools to help you keep track
of your finances.
Need to Know provides information for young people
on a variety of health subjects including alcohol, drugs,
emotional health and wellbeing, healthy eating, physical
activity, safety, sexual health and smoking.
Your Local Library offers free access
to books and much more. Free internet
access, information on universities and careers
and revision guides.
Education and Career Choices
Visit the Berkshire Opportunities (BOPS) website for information about
career choices.
Have you ever needed some advice, or just wanted someone
to talk to? Why not try Connexions, the service
that is all about connecting every single 13 to 19 year old
(up to 25 with learning difficulties or disabilities) to all
the things you need to know.
Want to stay in full time education after the
age of 16 but are worried about money? The
Education Maintenance Allowance could be
an answer for you.
Care To Learn -
Childcare help for young learners
If you are a young parent aged under 20 years
you can get help with childcare costs from Care
To Learn. You can claim up to £155 a week for
each child and any necessary additional travel
costs to help get you there. For more

Newbury College offers around 2,000 full
and part time courses. Full time courses cover a
range of vocational subjects from Entry Level to
HNCs.
Thames Valley University offers a range
of full-time and part-time courses in a huge
variety of subjects.
Whether you are still at school doing your
GCSEs, are leaving school to study further or
are an adult wanting to brush up your skills or
do a degree - there is a course for you!
Counselling and Support
CyberMentors uses social networking and allows people at different
levels to mentor each other. There is always someone there to help you
and really serious cases will be dealt with urgently.
Beatbullying is the UK's leading bullying prevention
charity. They are working towards a world where bullying and
child-on-child violence are unacceptable.
YoungMinds is a national charity committed to improving the mental health of all
children and young people.
RD4U is a website
designed for young people by young people. It is part of
Cruse Bereavement Care's Youth Involvement Project and is here
to support people after the death of someone close.
No5 is Reading's young person's counselling centre,
dedicated to providing free, confidential counselling and
emotional support to anyone between the ages of 11 and 25.
14:21 Time to Talk is the youth counselling service
for West Berkshire. They offer free, professional,
non-judgemental counselling on a one-to-one basis to all young
people aged between 11 and 25 years, residing, learning or
working in West Berkshire. Click

Relateen Young Persons Counselling is a service
provided by Relate Berkshire. A specially trained
young persons' counsellor can help if you are having
worries or difficulty coping with the break down of your
parents' relationship.
The Harbour is a support group for family,
friends and carers of people suffering from alcohol
and drug addictions. The group offers space
and time to relax, share stories and laugh and cry

Sibling Support
Everyone at Swings & Smiles understands just how
different life is when you are living in a
family where a brother or sister has a
disability or special needs. Siblings aged 12 or
over can receive support via email from a
specialist Sibling Mentor.
